Don’t feed this to your dog

5 Dec

One of my family’s favorite Christmas snacks is the delicious and oh so simple to make, Puppy Chow!!   No lie, if you have never tasted this version of chex mix, you will try it and wonder why you even wasted your time with the boring, plain, mix.  So chocolatey, and peanut buttery.  The crunch of the rice chex (yes I always use rice, but you can use any kind).  The sweet coating of the powdered sugar which gives the outside an almost chewy, but melt in your mouth texture.  Yum, now I really want some.  Anyway, today I am sharing this recipe with you.  This is definitely a fun hands on experience for the child in your life, be it your own, or a niece or nephew, or maybe even someone you babysit for.  So grab a kid and get mixin’!

9 cup Chex
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Put cereal in large bowl. Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Pour over Chex cereal, put into a large plastic bag with powdered sugar and shake well to coat.

Spread mixture evenly on wax paper and allow to cool.
